McNeese State's Lauren Fleury, Tiffany Baker and Trisha Seale Named To SLC All-Academic Team

PLANO, Texas

McNeese State's volleyball players Lauren Fleury, Tiffany Baker and Trisha Seale have been named to the 2005 Southland Conference All-Academic Team as released by the league office here Thursday. Fleury was selected to the first team, Baker to the second team and Seale to the third team.

Fleury, a senior from Tauranga, New Zealand is a three-time selection and one of five student-athletes to post a perfect 4.0 GPA. Fleury is a Chemistry major who played in all 25 matches and started in 10. She was credited with 86 kills, 18 assists and was second on the team with 24 service aces and third on the team with 233 digs.

Tiffany Baker


Baker, a junior from League City, Texas also posted a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Health Promotions major. This is her second time being selected to the team. Baker was second on the team with a .265 hitting percent, 24 service aces and third on the team with 241 kills and 66 blocks.

Trisha Seale


Seale, a senior from Stafford, Arizona posted a 3.21 GPA in Special Education. She was second on the team with 332 kills, 333 digs and 22 service aces. She was named the Aeropostle Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Week once this season.

The all-academic team honors student-athletes who were selected all-conference and/or named as a national all-academic recipient this year while also earning at least a 3.00 grade point average. Remaining spots on the all-academic teams are then voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators. Student-athletes must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
