Volleyball Team Defeats UT-San Antonio In Straight Sets

LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese State's volleyball team improved to 18-13 overall and 10-5 in the Southland Conference here Friday night with a straight set 30-25, 30-24, 30-22 Southland Conference victory over Texas-San Antonio.

McNeese was led by Chanel Tyler's match high 14 kills and a career high .412 hitting percent by Jennifer Cook. Cook was credited with eight kills on 17 attempts with only one hitting error.

Senior Jessica Strama led all players with a match high 20 assists. Amanda Allen and Tyler added 15 and 12, respectively while Sarah Cartie dished out a match high 39 assists.

The Cowgirls will conclude its regular season today by hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a 2 p.m.

Seniors Jessica Strama, the school's all-time career digs leader, NCAA record holder and first player to record a career high 2,000 digs along with Lindsey Petzold, the career block assists leader and Amber Click will be honored prior to the match.
