McNeese State's softball team will conclude its regular season this weekend by hosting regular season champion Texas State in a three game Southland Conference series. A 1 p.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday. Following Sunday's game, seniors Carmen Sittig, Jenny Clay and Megan Beard will be honored.

The Cowgirls (21-33, 14-12 SLC) have clinched a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament in San Marcos, Texas which is scheduled to begin Thursday. The Cowgirls enter the series in fifth place and depending on the outcome of games around the league this weekend, McNeese could end up as high as fourth place and as low as eighth.

Jenny Clay


Clay continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .385 batting average, .643 slugging percent, 55 hits, 34 runs scored and 17 doubles. Clay is tied for a team high six home runs and is second on the team with 26 RBI's.

Megan Beard


Megan Beard and Tiffany Ritchie are tied for a team high with two triples apiece while Molly Guidry is tied with Clay with six home runs. Guidry leads the team with 22 stolen bases in 25 attempts and Michelle LaVoie leads the team with 28 RBI's. LaVoie also leads the pitching staff with nine victories. 3.74 ERA and 127.1 inning pitched. Bethany Stefinsky leads the staff with 107 strikeouts and is second on the team with a 3.98 ERA and eight victories.

Texas State (33-16, 23-4 SLC) is led by McKenzie Baack's .344 batting average and seven home runs. Ragan Blake is the Bobcats top pitcher who has a 18-10 overall record with a .2.40 ERA and 167 strike outs in 177.2 innings pitched.
