Barbe High's Claire Terracina Inks With Cowgirls

LAKE CHARLES-- Barbe High's Claire Terracina is the latest McNeese State softball signee after signing a Letter of Intent last week.

The 5'5" utility player is a four year starter for the Lady Bucs who were the 2006 District 3-5A champs. Terracina plays both shortstop and pitcher for Barbe where she has been selected to the all-district team her sophomore and junior seasons. She was also selected to the All-Southwest Louisiana Team as a junior.

Terracina has hit over .300 in all three seasons and hit .548 in district games only this season along with a .645 slugging percent, .563 on base percent with 11 RBI's, three doubles and seven stolen bases. As a pitcher, she was 2-0 this season.

As a junior, Terracina batted .523 with 13 triples, 18 RBI's, five doubles, three home runs and stole 17 of 17 bases and was named the Junior Class Female Athlete of the Year. had the 10th best SPARQ rating at the NFCA Recruiting Camp held at McKinley, TX, and 16th best SPARQ rating at the camp in Denver, CO.

Last summer, she batted .437 with six triples and four doubles. From 2001-2004, she was a member of the Southern Extreme 12U/14U team. She was named the 2007 Barbe High Junior Class Female Athlete of the Year.

In her sophomore season, she batted .395 with three triples, two doubles and stole 17 of 18 bases.
