Senior Jenny Clay Belted Another Home Run, Her Second Of The Series
 
 
Cowgirls Drop Final Game Of SLC Series Against Sam Houston State By 5-4 Score

HUNTSVILLE, Tx.--McNeese State's softball team dropped the final game of a Southland Conference series to Sam Houston State here Wednesday by a 5-4 score. Despite the loss, McNeese wins the overall series 2-1 with a doubleheader victory on Tuesday. The Cowgirls head into this weekend's Southland Conference series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 12-24 overall record and 5-7 conference record.

McNeese took a 1-0 first inning lead on a two out opposite field home run by Jenny Clay to give the Cowgirls the early lead again. McNeese extended its lead to 4-0 in the second by scoring three runs on five hits and one Sam Houston State error. McNeese scored on RBI singles by Lindsey Langner, Liz Morvant and Clay and had an opportunity to score more runs before leaving the bases loaded.

Sam Houston State came back to tie the game at four all in the third on four hits and one Cowgirl error. Sam Houston State started the inning off with back to back singles then scored their first run on a Casie Everitt RBI single. Alex Survant cleared the bases to tie the game on a two out three run homer.

The Bearkats took a 5-4 lead in the fifth on a solo homerun by Morgan Mikulin. McNeese was unable to manufacture any more runs as they were held hitless in the final two innings. Both teams collected seven hits apiece and Clay led the Cowgirls with a three for three plate appearance with two RBI's. Michelle LaVoie took the loss and falls to 8-11 on the year.
