In 2007 Andrew Fitzgerald enters his third season as a Cowgirl assistant. In his second season as an assistant the Cowgirls posted their best record to date on the way to McNeese's first Southland Conference Tournament championship and NCAA tournament appearance.

Fitzgerald primarily works with the field players and is involved in practice and game planning. Off the field his diverse duties range from travel arrangements to community outreach as well as being in charge of junior college recruiting. Fitzgerald has been successful in the junior college recruiting scene, bringing in a junior college All-American and an All- Region player in his first year in the role. He is also actively involved in the local youth soccer scene as well as being the head coach for a local boys high school team.

Fitzgerald joined the program in 2005 after earning his Master's degree from Texas A&M. While at A&M he led the Texas A&M Men's Club soccer program to an undefeated season and a national championship in 2004. His team's won the regional tournament both years he served as head coach and never finished below the national quarterfinals. He also coached the A&M "B" team to a national "open" quarterfinal appearance.

In 2004 Fitzgerald also served as the business operations and marketing intern for the nationally ranked Aggie Women's soccer team.

While in graduate school Fitzgerald was the sport club graduate assistant for the Texas A&M Department of Rec Sports. He credits this role as key in developing his inclusive coaching philosophy. He believes that player involvement in decision making is critical to team success.

Fitzgerald was a member of the 2001 A&M Men's team that brought home the clubs first ever national championship.

From 2000-2002 he served as co-head coach at Allen Academy High School and helped the team to their first ever State Championship.

Fitzgerald holds the NSCAA National Diploma, the NSCAA goalkeeper I and II diploma, and the USSF "D" national license.
