McNeese State's women's golf team will take part in the 2008 Southland Conference Tournament which begins Monday, April 21 and runs through Wednesday, April 23 at the Beaumont Country Club in Beaumont, Texas. The tournament will consist of a single round each day with an 8 a.m. tee-time each day. Fans can follow the tournament by logging on to the Southland Conference website (www.southland.org) or the Golfstat website (www.golfstat.com).

Maggie Welch, Jennifer Herrmann, Lacy McKinley, Jacy Reynolds and Randi Fischer will make up this year's Cowgirl team. Individual tee-times for the Cowgirls have Reynold's teeing off at 8:40 a.m., Herrmann at 8:50, Welch at 9:00, McKinley at 9:10 and Reynolds at 9:20.

Welch currently leads the team with a 77.6 stroke average followed by McKinley at 79.55. Herrmann has a 80.5 average, Reynolds has a 82.6 average and Fischer follows with a 86.3 average.

Sam Houston State is the reigning team champion after winning the 2007 tournament by 13 strokes over second place Lamar. The Cowgirls finished in fifth place with a 314.

McNeese has never won the team title and has had one individual champion in Tessie Simar. Simar won the 2003 individual title with a 224 with rounds of 77, 74 and 73 when the tournament was held at the Lake Charles Country Club.
