Michael Fluty, a veteran collegiate golf coach from the state of Kansas and the 2006 Southland Conference "Coach of the Year", is in his fourth season as the women's head coach.

In his first season with the Cowgirls, Fluty guided the team to a second place finish at the Southland Conference Tournament, coached three All-SLC performers and the Player of the Year in Lisa Westman. The Cowgirls led the league in per round scoring, team low rounds and low tournament score.

Last season (Spring 2007)

In 2006, Fluty was named the league's "Coach of the Year" his team placed third in four out of six tournaments including the Southland Conference Tournament. The Cowgirls finished the season third in the league with a 316.7 per round scoring average and team-by-team low rounds with a 306. He coached two all-SLC performers in first team all-SLC and "Player of the Year in Lisa Westman and second team all-SLC Maggie Welch. Westman was also named to the academic All-SLC team and the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year.

The 2005 team led the league in per round scoring, team low rounds and low tournament score.

Prior coming to McNeese, Fluty spent eight years as the men's and women's golf coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.

During that time his women's teams have produced two NAIA All-Americans, five NAIA scholar All-Americans, two Region IV titles and three appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.

Besides being a seasoned collegiate coach, Fluty is also a member of the PGA and has served as an assistant professiona at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield for eight years.

Fluty is also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having spent 12 years in the service as an officer. He has both a bachelor degree in History and in Health, Physical Education and Instruction from Kansas.
