Junior Coutnee' Hollins Named To The All-SLC Second Team
 
 
Courtnee' Hollins and Shante' Perry Named To The All-SLC Women's Basketball Team

FRISCO, Texas-- McNeese State's Courtnee' Hollins and Shante' Perry have been awarded for their efforts in helping the Cowgirls earn a spot in this week's Southland Conference Tournament by being named to the 2007-08 All-Southland Conference Team as announced by the league office here Monday. Hollins was named the second team while Perry was named to the honorable mention team . The postseason honor is the first for both players and the first for any Cowgirl since the 2005-06 season when Regina Spivey was named to the second team and Marquita Williams was an honorable mention pick.

Hollins, a junior from Grant, La. has led the Cowgirls in scoring all season long and enters the tournament with an overall scoring average of 15.3 ppg. and 18.5 ppg. in SLC games only. Hollins ranks fourth in the league in scoring, third in three-point field goals made, third in three-point average and 10th in free throw percent. She ranks nationally in three-point field goals made and percent. She has scored in double figures 22 times this season and has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 14 games. Hollins tied a school record with seven three-pointers made against Stephen F. Austin and set a new consecutive free throw string with 37 made. She was also named SLC and Louisiana "Player of the Week" once this season.

Junior Shant' Perry Named To The All-SLC Honorable Mention Team


Perry, a junior from Cleveland, Tx., has evolved as a scoring threat for the Cowgirls since the Cowgirls' game at Louisiana Tech on Dec. 31. She is currently second on the team in scoring with 11.0 ppg. overall and 15.4 ppg. in Southland Conference games only. Perry is shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range in league games and ranks eighth in free throw shooting in the SLC at 78.8 percent. She has scored in double figures 14 times this season including the last six games and 12 of the Cowgirls' last 14 games. Perry scored a career high 26 points in the Cowgirls' 67-51 road victory at Nicholls State.
