Cowgirls Conclude Regular Season Against Nicholls State Saturday
 
 
Women's Basketball Host Nicholls State In Regular Season Finale Saturday

McNeese State's women's basketball team (9-20, 7-8 SLC), fresh off a crucial 67-61 road victory at Southeastern La. Thursday night will conclude it regular season today by hosting Nicholls State at 4 p.m. on senior day at Burton Coliseum. Five seniors (Reeshimah Davis, Lenissa Lopez, Brittany Boone, Joanna Klutarich and manager Shelly Fontenot) will be honored 10 minutes prior to tipoff. A victory today would clinch a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas. The game will serve as a day to recognize all former Cowgirl basketball alumni. The game can be heard live on KJEF Radio (1290 AM) or can fans can log on to McNeese State's official athletic website at www.mcneesesports.com.

The Cowgirls have won three of their last four games including a 52-49 win over UTSA on Feb. 28. McNeese has three players who continue to average in double figures in overall scoring and league games only.

Junior Courtnee' Hollins leads the team with 15.2 ppg. and 19.0 in SLC games only, junior Shante' Perry is averaging 10.9 ppg. and 15.3 in the SLC and senior Brittany Boone is averaging 10.2 ppg. and 11.4 in SLC games. Boone is second on the team with 4.8 rpg. and 5.6 rpg. in conference play only behiind senior Davis' team high 5.6 rpg. and 5.7 in conference play. Senior point guard Lenissa Lopez leads the team with 3.6 assist per game and 4.4 apg. in conference play. She also ranks second in the conference in assists to turnover ratio at 1.76.

As a team, McNeese leads the league in free throws with a 70.5 average and three-point field goals made per game with 6.76 per game.

Nicholls State enters the game with a 6-20 overall record and 4-11 conference record. The Colonels are winless on the road this season at 0-14 and have lost eight of its last nine games. Senior Katherine Plummer leads the Colonels and the Southland Conference in scoring with 18.8 ppg. and assists with 3.27 per game. Plummer is averaging 21.6 ppg. in conference games only.

McNeese holds a 42-12 all-time series record against Nicholls State including a 67-51 win in Thibodaux on Feb. 9.
