Garry Brodhead, former Teurlings High School girls basketball coach makes his collegiate coaching debut as an assistant coach for the Cowgirls. Brodhead, is known for his knowledge of the game, enthusiasm for skill development and player improvement. The ten year veteran joins McNeese State after a successful prep career with the Lady Rebels where he compiled a 297-78 overall record and won the 2002 state title. He earned Coach of the Year honors twice (2007 and 2002) and led the Lady Rebels to nine district titles and six trips to the Louisiana Sweet 16. Besides the 2002 state title, he led Teurlings to the state runners-up once and the semifinals four times. His 2002 team ranked in the USA Top 25 and he had three teams ranked no. 1 in the state. He was named district "Coach of the Year" nine times, parish "Coach of the Year" three times and Acadiana "Coach of the Year" twice. Brodhead also spent time as an AAU coach. He helped the Acadiana Stars to the National Championship Tournament twice where they finished in fifth place in 2006 and eighth place in 1997. The 1980 graduate of Louisiana-Lafayette earned his Business Administration degree and also served as a graduate assistant for the Lady Cajuns during the 1994-95 season. Garry and wife Andrea have three children (Blair, Ashley and Beau) and three granddaughters (Celie and Emmie Richard and Brynnan Boyd).
