Reggie Nelson is a former Cowboy all-American who returned this spring as an assistant coach, being in charge of the offensive line.

He's a former professional player and spent five seasons as a high school coach.

During a four year career at McNeese, Nelson earned all-America recognition from the American Football Coaches Association, the Sporting News and Walter Camp and was also an all-Louisiana and an all-conference selection.

He started 52 consecutive games for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1998 as an offensive tackle.

He was selected as the eighth pick of the fifth round in the NFL draft by San Diego. He also played for Minnesota and Jacksonville as well as in the NFL European League for Frankfurt and Barcelona. And, he played in the Canadian Football League for Ottawa.

He began his coaching career in 2000 as the offensive line coach for San Diego (CA) High and spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Washington-Marion High were he was named a NASA powerlifting coach of the year.

He was an honor roll student at McNeese, majoring in Psychology. He obtained his master degree in Counselling Psychology in 2005.

Nelson is married and he and his wife Renee have three children, Gregory, Reginald and Noah.
