Lance Guidry is in his first season back after a stint as head coach at Carencro High School. He will be the secondary coach for the Cowboys.

Guidry served as defensive coordinator and coached the secondary for the Cowboys under Tommy Tate from 2000 to 2004, with McNeese winning three straight SLC crowns and making it to the finals in the FCS championship series.

During his time with the Cowboys, he helped three players - Joe Judge, Hadley Prince and Keith Smith - earn all-America honors. Smith was also a third round NFL draft selection in 2004. McNeese led the conference in pass interceptions two of the his five years and in 2003 topped the league in turnover margin.

An all-conference player for the Cowboys, Guidry spent five seasons in the high school coaching ranks before joining the Cowboy staff the first time.

For the last three years, Guidry had been the coach at Carencro High School in Carencro, LA. He had an overall record of 18-15 as a head coach and won a district title in his final season before returning to coach at McNeese.

Coaching Career: graduate assitant McNeese `94; secondary coach Leesville High `95-96 (state runnerup) and Carencro High `97-99 (state semis); defensive backfield at Carencro tied state record by intercepting eight passes in one game in 1999; defensive assistant/coordinator at McNeese 2000-04; Carencro High Head Coach '05-07 (2007 district champions)
