Broderick Fobbs, a veteran college coach, is in his first season as the Cowboy wide receivers coach. He will also recruit the New Orleans area. Fobbs, a former player for and a graduate of Grambling University, has served the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Northwestern State, handling the wide receivers and the tight ends. He also served as co-offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator and kickoff return coordinator. During his tenure with the Demons he helped Derrick Doyle and Toby Zeigler become two of the top receivers in the school's history and helped coach Northwestern State to a Southland Conference title, win 32 of 54 games, rank nationally in total offense and scoring and set 13 school offensive records. And, he also coached returned specialists Dvid Pittman and Terrence McGee who were NFL draft selections. Prior to joining the Demons, Fobbs served as a graduate assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette and as fullback/linebackers coach for the Arena Football Lafayette Roughnecks. He has also served an internship with the NFL's Buffalo Bills at their training camp in 2005. Fobbs, who is the son of North Carolina A&T head coach Lee Fobbs, played football under the late Eddie Robinson at Grambling, starting two years as a running back and one year as a wide receiver. He was a two-year team captain, received an athlete of the week award, was an honor roll student and earned his degree in 1997 in leisure studies with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation. The 32 year old Fobbs grew up in Monroe where he was an all-state athlete at Monroe-Carroll High, also serving as team captain. He is married to the former Kimbia (Kim) Leves Jones of Lake Charles. |
