Bradley named to all-conference team

March 11, 2008

McNeese State's Jarvis Bradley has been named to the 2008 all-Southland Conference basketball team's third unit and teammate John Ford was given an honorable mention.

Bradley, a senior from Dallas, and Ford, a senior from Alexandria, will lead the Cowboys into the league tournament on Thursday when they play Sam Houston State in the opening round at the Merrell Center in Katy, TX.

Bradley is the team's scoring and rebound leader while Ford tops the Cowboys in assists and steals and ranks second in scoring. Ford also became a 1,000 point career scorer for the school this season while Bradley is only shy eight points.

Stephen F. Austin's Josh Alexander was named the league's player of the year while SFA coach Danny Kaspar was named the coach of the year. Other major honors went to Lamar's Kenny Dawkins as newcomer of the year and UTSA's Devin Gibson as freshman of the year.

Joining Alexander and Dawkins on the first team were Ryan Bright of Sam Houston State, Lamar Sanders of Lamar and Trey Gilder of Northwestern State.

Second team members were Matt Kingsley of SFA, Kevyn Green of Southeastern La., Nate Bowie of Central Arkansas, Gibson and Jermaine Griffin of UTA.

On the third team along with Bradley were Chris Daniels of TAM-Corpus Christi, Ryan Bathie of Nicholls State, Brandon Bush of Texas State and Rog'er Guignard of UTA.
