Assistant Coach

T.J. Marcum is in his first season as a member of the McNeese State coaching staff and will handle a bundle of assignments.

His on-florr duty will be working with the guards and he will also seve as the travel coordinator, will do the scheduling, recruit and handle administrative duties.

Considered to be one of the most energetic coaches in the business, the 30 year old Marcum is a native of Winnsboro, TX and has served stints at Texas A&M, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin and Denton High School.

Also, two years ago he spent a season in Iraq working with the troops. He was employed by Kellogg, Brown and Root, a division of Halliburton and he served as an area/regional manager with KBR's morale welfare program, developing health and fitness programs for troops at six different military bases within Iraq's Anbar province.

His other experience has been as a coach with the Houston Hoops, an AAU traveling team, and he also spent time with the John Lucas basketball development program, working daily with players at the high school, college and professional level.

Marcum is a 2000 graduate of Texas A&M with a bachelor degree in Kinesiology/Education and he has a master's degree from SFA.

He was a wide receiver letterman in football and an all-district guard in basketball at Winnsboro High, where he was an honor student.

The McNeese coach will be married in December.
