Edward Garriet has moved from the playing floor to the coaching sidelines and is marking his first season as a collegiate coach. A year ago he served as an assistant coach at Washington-Marion High in Lake Charles, helping that team win a district title and advance to the second round of the state playoffs. He has also served as an AAU coach in both Lake Charles and his hometown of Beaumont, TX. Garriet will work with the Cowboy perimeter players while also recruiting and handling film exchange as well as other administrative duties. During a four year playing career at McNeese, Garriet became one of the school's top 25 leading scorers, scoring 980 points. He also ranks third on the school career list with 229 three point goals and still holds school records for most three point goals in a game (8) and for most consecutive three point goals made in a contest (6). Twice he led the Cowboys in scoring and for the 2004-05 season he was named the team's most valuable player. Also that year he led the Southland Conference in three point shooting and ranked 13th in the nation. He played on the conference championship teams in 2001-02 and also played in the NCAA tournament. The 25 year old Garriet is married and he and his wife have four children. He will receive his degree in General Communications in December of 2006. |
