John Ford is one of the most experienced players on the team with two letters and two seasons in which he has seen some starting action. He is exceptionally quick and is a good defender on the ball. Offensively he can create scoring oppurtunities...he is a pure point guard who can score...he has a tremendous court savvy...one of his best attributes is his ability to get the ball to the open man...outstanding free throw shooter

Sophomore Season (2005-2006): came off the bench for most of the year although he did see starting action in 13 games...top returning scorer with a 9.1 mark last season...led team in assists with 74 and was second in steals...posted a .814 free throw percentage and a .833 mark in conference play...ranked fifth in the SLC in free throw pct. and was eighth in steals...20 points off the bench vs Southern Miss...19 points, five assists and three steals vs Houston...18 points vs UTSA...

Freshman Season (2004-2005): took over the starting role at point guard and had an outstanding second half, leading the team and ranking No. 2 in the Southland Conference in assists (3.7 per game) and also scoring at a 6.4 clip...scored 21 points and had seven rebounds in SLC tournament game with Sam Houston...scored 19 second half points to lead Cowboys over George Mason...made 83.3 percent of free throws...had season high 11 assists against Lamar...scored in double figures in four of teams's last six games...

Pre-McNeese: standout athlete at Peabody High where he led his team to an undefeated record as well as to the Class AAAA state championship his senior season...named MVP in state and regarded as the best prep point guard in the Louisiana...averaged 20 points, six steals and five assists per game as his team went 40-0...the team also ranked No. 5 in the nation by USA Today...all-state, all-district and all-CENLA recognition....was his district's MVP and was the player of the year on the all-CENLA squad....was a highly recruited basketball player
