McNeese State catcher Taylor Freeman has been named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association all-Louisiana collegiate baseball team.

He was named to the second team.

This past season Freeman won the Cowboys' triple crown by batting .372, hitting eight home runs and driving in 52 runs. A native of Carney, OK, Freeman was in his sophomore season.

Freeman was the only Cowboy named to the team which was dominated by LSU's Tigers.

LSU's Paul Mainieri was named coach of the year while Blake Dean was the hitter of the year, D. J. LeMahieu the freshman of the year and Matt Clark the newcomer of the year.

The only other special award went to Josh Cryer of UNO who was named pitcher of the year.
