McNeese State finished off its weekend baseball series with a 10-0 win over Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon.

Cowboy lefty Chris Denton, now 2-1, went 6 innings, giving up no runs in a three hit, two strikeout effort to combine with three other McNeese pitchers to hold the Red Hawks to five hits in a shutout victory.

Cameron Chandler, Nick Buck, and Bryan Cartie each hurled a single scoreless inning to finish the game for the Cowboys who ran their record to 4-4 on the season.

The Cowboy offense got the scoring started in the third inning, plating Shon Landry on an RBI groundout by Beau Knowles and scoring Cartie on a fielder's choice RBI by Joe Hulett.

The Red Hawks, now 1-3 on the season, started Jamie McAlister and used a total of six pitchers on the day, with McAlister going 3.1 innings and no other Red Hawk pitcher going more than a single inning

The runs in the third inning proved to be all the Cowboys would need on the afternoon, giving up only five hits to a total of three Red Hawk batters, with Phillip Riley having three singles to lead the Southeast Missouri effort.

The Cowboys added three runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to finish the scoring for the day.

The Cowboy offense was led by Cartie, going two for three with three RBIs. Beau Knowles added four RBIs on one hit along with a sacrifice fly.

Chris Fontenot collected two hits to go along with a hit and a RBI each from Joe Hulett, and Shon Landry. Also collecting a hit on the afternoon were Thomas Zabasky, and Taylor Faul, with Tyler Stutes picking up an RBI.

The Cowboys will be back in action Tuesday night when they face the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette.
