The McNeese State Cowboys bounced back on Saturday afternoon with a 7-6 decision over Southeast Missouri to even their baseball series at 1-1.

The third game of the series will kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Righthander Sam English collected the Cowboy pitching victory, evening his record at 1-1. He went 7.2 innings, giving up eight hits and six runs (five earned) while striking out two and walking one.

English started a little shakey, giving up two runs in the first inning but settled down and relinquished one run in the third, one in the sixth and two in the eight.

Ryan Leger came on to pitch the final 1.1 innings without giving up a hit or a run for the Cowboys and earn a save. He struckout three batters.

The Cowboys came back with three runs in the bottom of the second and added three more in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good.

What proved to be McNeese's winning run came home in the bottom of the seventh when Tyler Stutes plated Taylor Faul on a fielder's choice.

Both teams had eight hits in the game and leading the Cowboys with two hits each were Bryan Cartie and Shon Landry. Joe Hulett and Thomas Zabasky both had two RBIs in the game.

Also with hits were Beau Knowles and Charlie Kingery and both also had an RBI.
