Pre-McNeese: went 6-2 as No. 1 pitcher for Eastfield (TX) Community College...used as outfielder in high school at Chapel Hill in Tyler, TX...batted .429 with seven homers and five triples senior season..all-state as outfielder and all-district as pitcher...played tight end, wide receiver and defensive end in football...also punter and earned all-district honors
