McNeese's Mark Hoey and Tinette Burger run first at Louisiana Tech Invitational

Sept. 15, 2007

Complete Results

McNeese State's Mark Hoey and Tinette Burger claimed individual honors during the running of the Louisiana Tech invitational cross country meet in Ruston on Saturday.

Hoey won the men's four mile race with a clocking of 20:30 and Burger took the women's four kilometer title at 14:38.

"It was fantastic," McNeese coach Brendon Gilroy said of his team's efforts. "There was no overall team champion since they put each team against the others in something like dual competition. But we had the top individual runners in each division and we were also second individually in the women's race and third individually in the men."

Besides McNeese, other teams participating were UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, Centenary, Northwestern State, Louisiana College and host Louisiana Tech.

Amy Guinn finished second for the Cowgirls at 15:18 while Carly Thurman ran 18th at 16:32, Jennifer LaValley was 33rd at 18:24 and Anna Caffery was 61st at 21:08.

In the men's division, McNeese's Alasdair Russell was third with a 20:43 clocking while other Cowboy finishes had Ryan Barrow with a 22:06 clocking for 10th place, Johnathon Koenck12th at 22:07, Kenneth Pierce 20th at 22:40 and Matt Fontenot 23rd at 22:52.

Next up for McNeese will be the LSU meet on Sept. 22 in Baton Rouge.
