Cowgirls' Tinette Burger Wins Second Consecutive Race At LSU Tiger Festival Saturday

BATON ROUGE- McNeese State's men's cross country team placed second with 57 points behind host LSU here Saturday at the 8K Tiger Cross Country Festival. Mark Hoey was the Cowboys' top finisher with a sixth place finish with a time of 26:17.79.

Other scorers for the Cowboys were Alasdair Russell with a 10th place finish (27:04.92), Jonathon Koenck placed 13th with a time of 27:56.40, Stephen Scullion placed 15th with at time of 28:17.32 and Kenneth Pierce with a 20th place finish with a time of 28:53.69.

Other Cowboy runners in the race but not scoring were Matt Fontenot placed 21st with a clocking of 28:53.94, Jordan Neil (22nd/29:05.02), Ryan Barrow (24th/29:08.76).

The Tigers won the race with 20 points and LSU's Joseph Simichimba won the individual title with a clocking of 24:51.55.

The Cowgirls placed fifth in the six team 6K Run with 114 points. Tulane won the race with 27 points followed by LSU, Southeastern La., UL-Lafayette. Nicholls State placed sixth.

McNeese's Tinette Burger won her second consecutive race by winning the individual title here Saturday with a time of 21:45.10. The next highest Cowgirl finisher was Amy Guinn who placed ninth with a time of 22:43.34. Other scorers for the Cowgirls were Carly Thurman (36th/26:35.85), Anna Caffery (50th/31:56.17) and Jennifer LaValley (51st/32:30.48).
