Track team runs in Beaumont at the Ty Terrell Relays on Thursday
April 23, 2008
The McNeese State track team will take part in the ExxonMobil Ty Terrell Relays at Lamar University on Thursday. Sam Houston State is also slated to join in the meet. Freshman sprinter Christi McRae will be one of the Cowgirls featured runners in the meet which will begin at 10 a.m. with field events and 12:30 p.m. with running events. For the first time in the outdoor season she is entered in the 100 and the 200 meter dashes. She has already stepped off a 53.91 clocking in the 400 meters, the second fastest in McNeese history and the fastest this season by a Southland Conference performer. Key entries for the Cowboys will be weightmen John Jamail and Freddie Hannie. Jamail ranks among the top performers in the conference in the shot put while Hannie holds the school record in the hammer. In a twist, the hammer throw will be held at the McNeese facility, slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m. The only entrants in it are all McNeese performers. Also taking part in the meet will be Lincoln London and Jon Fagan, a couple of McNeese coaches who will be participating unattached. London, who has a career best of 47.63 in the 400 meter dash, will take part in that event while Fagan will run the 110 high hurdles and the 400 meter dash and will also throw the javelin and discus. This will be McNeese's final turnup before the SLC championship meet May 9-11 in Huntsville, TX. -30- |
