Lawrence, KS - McNeese State's Jordan Neil won the unseeded men's 1500 meter run here Thursday night during the opening day of the Kansas Relays.

The Cowboy freshman posted a 3:54.59 clocking.

Also during Thursday's action, Amy Guinn ran second in the women's 3000 meters and Johnathan Koenck was second in the men's steeplechase.

Guinn posted a career best of 10:12.17 while Koenck ran 9:51.28.

Other results for McNeese during the opening day had Kenneth Pierce run a 10:12.98 for eighth place in the steeplechase, Alasdair Russell post a 10:20.55 for 10th place in the steeplechase and John Jamail toss the hammer 166-0 for 16th place.

School record holder Freddie Hannie fouled on all three of his attempts in the hammer.

The meet will continue through Saturday.
