Student-Athlete Academic Services

Overview

The Athletic Academic Center provides academic, educational, career, and personal support for the more than 300 student-athletes at McNeese State University. The goal of the Academic Center is to assist in the development of every student-athlete while providing them with the skills necessary for success both on the field and in the classroom. Student-athletes have access to tutors, computers, individualized study areas, and group study opportunities.

Kaufman Study Lab
Sunday, 5 p.m.- 9 p.m.
Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Friday, 8 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Tutorial Services

Kaufman Learning Center
The Learning Center is for tutoring only. All other work or research should be completed in The Athletic Study Hall. Available times to meet with tutors in The Learning Center will be Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
• Tutors will assist student-athletes with subjects they are having trouble with.
• Athletes will be required to bring work with them to The Learning Center.

NCAA General Eligibility Requirements

1. Each student-athlete must pass at least six hours towards their degree each semester.
2. Each student-athlete must have a satisfactory completion of 24-semester hours each academic year.
NOTE: If you have declared a major, you must satisfactory complete (pass) 24 hours acceptable towards your degree.
3. Each student-athlete must earn at least 75% of 24-semester hours during the regular academic year and no more than 25% of 24-semester hours during the summer or correspondence courses.

TRANSLATION
.75 * 24 = 18 hrs Fall/Spring Semester
.25 * 24 = 6 hrs Summer Semester MAX

PERCENTAGE OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
FULL-TIME ENROLLMENT BEGAN PRIOR TO FALL 2003
1. A student-athlete who is entering his/her third year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 25% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 90% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 4TH semester, you will need 25% of total degree hours completed and 1.8 cumulative GPA.

2. A student-athlete who is entering his/her fourth year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 50% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 95% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 6TH semester, you will need 50% of total degree hours completed and 1.9 cumulative GPA.

3. A student-athlete who is entering his/her fifth year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 75% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 95% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 8TH semester, you will need 75% of your total degree hours completed and 1.9 cumulative GPA.

PERCENTAGE OF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
FULL-TIME ENROLLMENT ON OR AFTER FALL 2003
NOTE: AT THE END OF YOUR 2ND semester, you will need at least 90% of 2.0 GPA = 1.8 cumulative GPA.
1. A student-athlete who is entering his/her third year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 40% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 95% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 4TH semester, you will need 40% of total degree hours completed and 1.9 cumulative GPA.

2. A student-athlete who is entering his/her fourth year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 60% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 100% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 6TH semester, you will need 60% of total degree hours completed and 2.0 cumulative GPA.

3. A student-athlete who is entering his/her fifth year of collegiate enrollment shall have completed successfully at least 80% of the course requirements in the student's specific degree program and at least 100% of 2.0 GPA.
AT THE END OF YOUR 8TH semester, you will need 80% of total degree hours completed and 2.0 cumulative GPA.
