What every student-athlete should knowWhat is the student's responsibility in getting a degree? While students are required to see an advisor before registering for classes, it is ultimately the student's responsibility to be sure that she/he has taken all the required courses for a degree. Advisors can alert you to curriculum changes as well as other requirements. What is "drop-add" all about?
The first four days of each semester are known as Drop and Add (or late registration). During this time, you may add classes if they are available. In many cases, classes are full and you may not get classes at the time you want them so expect to adjust your schedule. How do I drop a class after "drop and add" week?
While dropping classes is not encouraged, sometimes it is necessary. You do NOT receive a refund when you drop classes after scheduled drop and add week. Where do I go if I am ready to change my major?
1. Get a "curriculum change" form from the registrar's window or from your academic department. What if I am having trouble with a particular professor or instructor? While it may seem difficult, you DO have a course of action in cases where you have a conflict with a particular professor. It is important that your complaint be of a serious academic nature. Simply "not liking a professor" is not grounds for a complaint.
1. First, you must confront the professor directly. Attempt to resolve the issue or, at least, seek to understand differences in opinion. Many times there is a simple misunderstanding. If you cannot resolve the issue, or you feel too uncomfortable discussing the problem directly, proceed to the next step. Can I take a correspondence course? When determining satisfactory progress, a student-athlete can utilize correspondence courses only if taken through LSU. Can I attend summer school at another university? Yes. You can attend summer school at another university. However, in order to utilize those hours for satisfactory progress, you must get prior approval before registering for the classes.
