McNeese State's athletic teams have scattered throughout the south in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita.

The football team and the soccer teams are located on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, the volleyball and women's tennis teams at Louisiana-Lafayette in Lafayette and the cross country team at Oklahoma State.

The women's golf team is staying active playing in tournaments around the south while the men's golf team has suspended play for the time being.

"With the help of these universities we have been able to place our teams at the various locations and we are certainly appreciative of those taking in our squads," McNeese athletic director Sonny Watkins said.

The teams that are in season will resume their schedules as soon as possible. The football team has a contest with Texas Southern set for Turpin Stadium on the campus of Northwestern State on Saturday, the women's golf team is playing in the Oral Roberts classic this week, the volleyball and soccer teams will play later in the week and the cross country squad probably won't be back in action until the conference meet on Oct. 31 at Northwestern State.
