October 1 McNeese State-Southern Utah Football Game Off

Sept. 26, 2005

PLANO, Texas -- McNeese State University's football home opener has once again been delayed due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Rita. The Cowboys were to host Southern Utah at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, but damage to the Lake Charles, La., community and McNeese campus has forced another schedule change.

For the second week in a row and third time this season, university administrators have cancelled what would have been the Cowboys' first home game of the season.

After Hurricane Katrina, McNeese had its season and home opener against Southern University called off. Last week, Northwestern Oklahoma State was to visit Lake Charles, but the game was called due to the threat of Hurricane Rita.

Administrators at McNeese State and Southern Utah are discussing the possibilities of rescheduling the game.
